Tamarac Community Information

Tamarac is part of the excellent Broward County Public Schools. Although Broward County serves numerous schools, the students of Broward only attend a small handful, which include two elementary schools, one middle school, one charter school and two high schools. A number of private schools are offered in the area as well. High school graduates and adult learners looking to attend a local college or university have plenty to choose from in the Fort Lauderdale and Miami area.

Tamarac is in close proximity to some truly great cultural opportunities. The Broward Center for the Performing Arts encourages patrons to discover the joy of the arts. The Center puts on shows varying from dance and opera, to theatre and pop music performances. In addition, The Center also holds a number of classes, including a college internship program that trains students on how to work in a professional theatre as well as a summer theatre camp.

Located in Fort Lauderdale, the Museum of Discovery and Science is one of the best trips for families to take in Tamarac. The museum is home to over 200 phenomenal interactive exhibits. Some of the most popular exhibits include the largest living Atlantic coral reef in captivity; a number of reptiles including a twelve foot snake; and Runways to Rockets, a space exhibit where one can take a stimulated trip to Mars. However, the most popular exhibit all around is the five-story high IMAX screen—the biggest screen in all of South Florida!

A number of local events happen in Tamarac every year as well. The Tamarac at Twilight Concert Series, which takes place every month, features bands and local artists from all over Florida. Each concert is free and a great way for families and friends to gather under the stars and listen to some truly great bands. Art exhibits are also showcased at the local community center.
